Sand Castles by The Seine and in the Sky

Spread the love

I went to Paris Plage yesterday, which has become a marvelous institution now for 11 years,  The basic idea was to create a beach for Parisians who are so “unfortunate” to be stuck here in the city during the traditional vacation months of July and August.                                  Barges bring around 5 tonnes of sand from the Loire valley and dump them into makeshift  long sandboxes, that line the banks of the Seine.   It runs smack dab in the middle of the city , giving lovely views of the Conciergerie, Pont Neuf, spires of Notre Dame and parts of La Tour Eiffel, depending where you are located.                                                                                                                                 Palm trees here and there give it a tropical look.  Chaise longues, parasols and hammocks are set up for you to soak up some rays or watch the hordes of people pass by.  Ice cream cones and crepes are for sale, and this year the water department of Paris , L’Eau de Paris was offering ice-cold sparkling water for free, with or without flavored syrups.

Last year there was a magnificent sand castle resemblance of the one of Sleeping beauty.  I had hoped to find it again this year, but it was nowhere to be found.  I would have to be content with building one of my own.  That starting me thinking about the importance of building  sand castles in the sky.

Children do it effortlessly and we think nothing of it. Yet, we adults can sometimes even be criticized for allowing our imagination to take flight in fantasies to another time and place.  Building sand castles in the sky is essential to our creativity through our imagination.  It all starts in the sky of our mind.  All ideas and thoughts precede action, therefore we have at our hands the possibility to create what we wish for in our thoughts.  Day dreams are blueprints of our desires and should be listen to and nourished.

When I was a child during elementary school, my mind was often off with visions of taking care of and healing people.  I remembering drawing endless limbs  with bandages and even designing hospitals.  All those day dreams lead me to reading medical journals by junior high , and volunteering as a candy stripper at our local hospital.  Today I put “bandages” on people’s heart and do whatever I can to sooth their pain.

All thoughts that constitute day dreams are full of energy that are broadcasted out into the universe.  Those vibrating strings of conscious thoughts then start to attract complementing possibilities that begin to crystallize, propelling us into actions.

Quantum physics tells us that our consciousness can literally influence the behavior of sub-atomic particles.   Perhaps it is our conscious thoughts and focused attention that helps trigger the Higgs into creating matter.  We can not separate ourselves from the elemental world of matter and laws of physics.  Our soul has a vibratory energy that can work with the physical to create and open up doors of opportunity.

In the late 90’s, I spent an enormous amount of time day dreaming about living in Paris again.  It became an everyday ritual to pick up my plan de Paris(city map) and walk in my mind the streets of the city.  I would picture myself there and even giving speeches in French.

My favorite arrondissement where I had the most memories was the 5th, so that is where I dreamed of living.  Arriving in Paris with 3 suitcases and 2 dachshunds, the first available apartment , not by coincidence, just happened to be in the 5th!

Thomas Edison, Leonardo da Vinci, Jules Verne and Henry David Thoreau were just a few of the dreamers from the past.  Thoreau was quoted as saying “If you have built castles in the sky, your work need not be lost, that is where they should be.  Now put foundations under them.”

Dare to dream big!  Don’t limit your desires!  If they come from your heart, and are filled with your passion, then they will take flight someday.

    1. Thank you so much Herbie for your encouraging comment. I have such great belief in our dreams or castles in the sky. They have been my co creators and with God’s help lead me towards my paths in life. I see such wonderful possibilities in others and their dreams. It is wonderful for someone to validate your dreams, but we have to have the courage to live them.
